Middle Eastern Breads, Sarma-Style

In Middle Eastern cultures, bread holds deep symbolic meaning, representing life, sustenance, and hospitality. It is often shared among family and friends, with the act of breaking bread together signifying unity and togetherness. The tradition of making bread is a cherished ritual, passed down through generations—a labor of love that connects people to their heritage.

At Sarma, the breads reflect the same ethos as the restaurant: a playful and unique twist on the classics. In this class, you’ll learn recipes created by pastry chef Tess Cunningham, including sweet potato challah, scallion malawach, and falafel crackers. Most notably, Tess will share the recipe for Sarma’s iconic black sea cornbread!
